Grand Finale of the Inaugural ANIB Reliable Trophy

The Final game of the inaugural ANIB Reliable Trophy featuring Kevin Pietersen, was an absolute cracker with NTDE walking away with the trophy in a nail biting finish. The match was played at the Fairground Oval, Dubai Men’s College on Friday the 25th of September.

Cricket fans also witnessed a terrific exhibition game between Kevin Pietersen’s XI and the ANIB XI. KP cracked a fluid 68 with 7 sixes and a few fours, much to the delight of the fans.

The finals was played between Stars Line and NTDE. NTDE won the toss and decided to field first. In their allotted 20 overs Stars Line made 167 for 9. NTDE chasing a score of 168 for victory scored 172 for 6 in 19.5 overs in a nail biting finish.

NTDE won the inaugural ANIB Reliable Trophy by 4 wickets. NTDE’s Jouhar Hussain was adjudged the man of the finals for his match winning 64

Kevin Pietersen confirms playing exhibition game at the ANIB Reliable Trophy!

The Al Nabooda Insurance Brokers(ANIB) organized ANIB Reliable Trophy Corporate Cricket Tourney, is all set to begin on the 4th of September 2015.

A total of 12 teams will be competing to covet the Reliable Trophy. Teams such as ENBD, NTDE, Dot Com, Premium Aces, Star Line and Uninsurables are a few of the well known teams gearing up to battle for corporate cricketing supremacy.

International Cricket Superstar Kevin Pietersen is scheduled to arrive in Dubai for the final game of the ANIB Reliable Trophy.

Speaking about the tournament, Managing Director of ANIB, Rajagopal, said, “our aim is to encourage and nurture cricket in the region at all levels. We had recently concluded master classes and coaching sessions to select school going youngsters. Kevin is very keenly joining hands with us on this initiative to improve the quality of the game in the region and was very hands on during the coaching sessions. The Reliable Trophy is an extension of our passion for the great game and provides a greater opportunity for corporate players and teams to continue playing the game in the right spirit and also learn from the best”, he concluded.

“KP is excited to be part of the tournament and not only will he be giving away trophies and awards but also play in a very unique exhibition game just before the finals”, said Daniel Jason, Senior VP, Brand & Media at ANIB. According to Daniel, the exhibition game will feature KP’s XI against the ANIB XI. Pietersen will captain select cricket loving CEO’s and take to the field in an attempt to thrill the crowd with his flamboyant stroke play.

All in all, the ANIB Reliable Trophy promises to be a scintillating cricketing event and a great platform for corporate cricketers in the UAE to display their cricketing prowess, enjoy the game, win great prizes and whilst they are at it, meet a superstar cricketer in Kevin Pietersen and gain tips and valuable insights too. The opening match of The ANIB Reliable Trophy was played between Wombats and Strikers. Wombats won the toss and decided to bat first. Riding on Ali Bajwa’s 50 off 39 balls that included 2 fours and 2 sixes and a quick fire 40 of just 26 balls by Muqtader S consisting of 2 fours and a six, Wombats finished with a respectable 164 for 7wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Strikers missed many an opportunity on the field and dropped some important catches. Ahmed and Shakeel of Strikers, picked up two wickets each. In reply Strikers could only muster 115runs for the loss of 7wickets in their a allotted 20overs. The Premium Aces won the toss and decided to field first. TOTAL SOLUTIONS got away to a rollicking start, with openers Mohammad Farhan and Imad Mushtaq, timing the ball sweetly. Imad, smashed a whirlwind 80, studded with 5 fours and 6 sixes, in just 49 deliveries, to reach the highest score of The ANIB Reliable Trophy so far! Not be outclassed by his big partner, Mohammad Farhan, cruised to a stylish 53 off 36 balls, hammering 6 sixes and a four. Building on the solid platform laid by their openers, TOTAL SOLUTIONS reached a magnificent 200 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs.

Hemin Desai stood out for the Premium Aces with his bowling performance of 3 for 28 in four overs. Both George Michael and Saurabh Kapoor, picked up a wicket each too.

Chasing 201 for victory, The Premium Aces were kept at bay from scoring freely by some excellent pace bowling from TOTAL SOLUTIONS. Only Sayantan Bannerjee, Vishnu Nair and Gaurav Rajkumar got starts of 21, 21 and 17 respectively, but they were never allowed to settle and score freely by the TOTAL SOLUTIONS bowlers. Junaid Sidqiq was devastating with his spell of 3.5overs 14runs and four wickets. There were a few occasions when the stumps went cartwheeling due to his fiery pace! Hammad Khan picked up 4 for 38 and supported Junaid exceptionally.

Fanatics won the toss and decided to bat first. Though none of their batsmen got big scores, few of them contributed with decent knocks, to get their team to 165 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. Ajit, Vaidynath and Subin contributed with 30’s and Harish made an unbeaten 20.

For Dot Com, Aslam and Sheldon picked up two wickets each.

Dot Com in reply were bowled out for 102 in 18.5overs. Only Sheldon for Dot Com sparkled briefly with his 46 runs off 35 balls, including one four and five sixes. Javed made 19 too but it just wasn’t enough to get them near their target of 166.

STRIKERS Vs ENBD

Strikers faced ENBD on Monday’s encounter of the ANIB Reliable Trophy. At the coin toss, Strikers won and decided to bat first. Strikers batsman Naveed, was clean bowled by Faisal of ENBD, in the 2nd ball of the first over! This put Strikers on the back foot straightaway. Captain of Strikers Mohit, tried to anchor the innings and slowly started a recovery by rotating the strike nicely. ENBD had other plans though and with their excellent bowling and fielding performance, bowled the Strikers out for 64 runs in just 10overs. Mohit for strikers scored 22 off 24 balls.

Jamal of ENBD in his 2.1 overs, picked up 3 wickets for just 8runs. Waqas picked up 3 wickets in 3 overs giving away 10 runs. Akbar Rana had two scalps for 10 runs.

ENBD in reply reached their target of 65 in 7 overs and lost just two wickets. Akbar Rana top scored with 27 runs in 28 balls. Ahmed and Sid picked up a wicket each for the Strikers.

Starsline faced Spira Power on Tuesday’s encounter of the ANIB Reliable Trophy. Winning the toss Starsline batted first and batted well! They reached 186 for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Ubaadah was in prolific touch for the Starsline and made a crunching 76 off just 39balls. His innings was studded with 9 sixes and 1 four. Arun Alex and Sangeeth Joseph gave great impetus to the innings and made 37 and 31 respectively. Sangeeth Joseph’s 31 came off just 13 balls and had 3 sixes and 2 fours in it.

On Thursday’s match of the ANIB Reliable Trophy, Uninsurables played against Wombats. Wombats won the toss and decided to bat first. It was a shocking and disastrous innings for them as the Uninsurables bowlers flummoxed them with their excellent spin bowling. Holding on to their catches and putting on an all round fielding performance, the Uninsurables restricted the Wombats to a paltry 64 in 17.4 overs! Except for Naeem Abbas’s 21 and Shaharyar’s 17, none of the Wombats batsmen contributed.

Joseph James’s miserly spell of 4 overs 6 runs 3 wickets was topping for the Uninsurables. Bipin’s returns of 3 overs 13 runs 3 wickets was second best and Farhan’s 3 overs 10 runs 2 wickets, third!
